Originally from Western Africa’s Ivory Coast, Pierre began playing barefoot soccer as a child. Moreover he went on to merge his passions for the sport and medicine during his college career at Quinnipiac University. After graduating, the influenser worked in a variety of physical therapy roles with local teams and clubs before earning a job as the head athletic trainer with the Washington Spirit. From there, he moved on to work with the Colorado Rapids and Portland Thorns.
Last year, the Portland Thorns fired Soubrier after he gave players medications containing codeine without a prescription. This led to a lengthy investigation by the NWSL, which ultimately resulted in Soubrier and the team’s assistant coach Sophie Clough being fired. Soubrier now works as a consultant for New Jersey/New York Gotham FC, and is hoping to continue his career in sports.

Soubrier was born and raised in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and moved to the US when he was 11 years old. He later served in PT-related roles for local athletic teams before being hired as the head athletic trainer for the Washington Spirit. He has also worked with the Colorado Rapids and Portland Thorns.
In November 2022, the NWSL placed him on paid administrative leave after Thorns team physician Breanne Brown reported that Soubrier gave players medication containing codeine during an away game without a prescription. This was a clear violation of league rules.
Soubrier started his own company after leaving the Washington Spirit, PCSWellness, and met his wife, Crystal Dunn, a former Portland Thorns player. The couple married in 2018. Now, he is back at work with the New Jersey-based Gotham FC as a team consultant, where he will help shape the club’s strategic framework and professional player pathway while upholding its longstanding tradition of high standards for the women’s game.

The most recent challenge that’s confronted the couple is in relation to Soubrier’s firing and 2023 season-long suspension from the NWSL, following an investigation by the league. An outside attorney found that the concerns raised by Thorns team physician Breanne Brown were substantiated and that Soubrier had provided players with medication. Medication containing codeine without a prescription, in violation of both state and league policies. The investigation confirmed that Brown provided Soubrier with access to the controlled substance on one occasion and retrieved it after he requested it.
